Home To Stay and Michigan Coalition Against Homelessness Team Up for Homeless Awareness Month10/25/2024
Home To Stay Housing Assistance Center has joined forces with Michigan Coalition Against Homelessness (MCAH) and other community partners, to raise awareness about issues related to housing insecurity and homelessness by recognizing Homeless Awareness Month throughout the month of November. Homelessness Awareness Month takes place every November in Michigan and aims to get communities invested in making a difference. Home To Stay Housing Assistance Center promotes self-sufficiency to Midland County residents in need of stable housing and support services. Home To Stay opened its doors to safe, affordable housing in 1969 when 10 local churches formed the organization to improve housing conditions of low-income residents. A team of dedicated volunteers, board of directors and staff have a collective vision of a community with safe, stable housing for all. Home To Stay is designated by the State of Michigan as the Housing Assessment and Resource Agency (HARA) for Midland County, making the agency a recognized central point of intake for high-need individuals and families facing eviction or homelessness.
The Michigan Coalition Against Homelessness promotes Homeless Awareness Month throughout Michigan by providing support for local partners, like Home To Stay, local partner events, and leading the state’s communication and awareness raising campaigns. Michigan’s observance, which has taken place for nearly 20 years, has become an essential part of a collective effort to promote awareness and understanding of those experiencing homelessness. “Destination Home: Sharing The Common Goal Of Housing For All” is the 2024 Theme for Homeless Awareness Month. “Home to Stay will lead several activities throughout the month of November. Follow us on our Facebook page, as well as Home To Stay’s web site,” said LaShele Richard, Community Engagement Specialist at Home To Stay. “You can find us on Facebook at https://www.facebook.com/HomeToStayMidland,” Richard added.
