11/14/2025

Home To Stay Housing Assistance Center has been awarded a grant in the total amount of $10,000 from Hemlock Semiconductor Community and Regional Empowerment (CARE) Fund, which is managed by the Midland Area Community Foundation. The award was given to support Home To Stay’s Shelter Diversion program.
Home To Stay Housing Assistance Center promotes self-sufficiency to Midland County residents in need of stable housing and support services. Home To Stay opened its doors to safe, affordable housing in 1969 when 10 local churches formed the organization to improve housing conditions of low-income residents. A team of dedicated volunteers, board of directors and staff have a collective vision of a community with safe, stable housing for all. Home To Stay is designated by the State of Michigan as the Housing Assessment and Resource Agency (HARA) for Midland County, making the agency a recognized central point of intake for high-need individuals and families facing eviction or homelessness.

Home To Stay works towards its mission through the implementation of key programs like Shelter Diversion which falls under Homeless Prevention programs. Homeless Prevention programs include case management, rental assistance, advocacy, housing resource information and referrals. Another program at Home To Stay is the Home Repair program, which aims to enhance the safety and accessibility of homes by helping to fund health- and safety-related repairs for seniors and income-eligible Midland County residents. Outreach programs include the Vital Statistics, P.O. Box, Furniture and Appliance programs.

“The Midland Area Community Foundation exists to cultivate the power of giving within our community, support long-term transformation, and help ensure all residents thrive,” said Alysia Christy, Director of Community Impact at the Midland Area Community Foundation. Joe Coffey, CEO at Home To Stay, added. “The work and goals of Shelter Diversion support our mission of promoting self-sufficiency to Midland County residents in need of stable housing and support services. We are thrilled to be in community partnership with the Midland Area Community Foundation.”
