Local Meijer Team Members Choose Home To Stay Housing Assistance Center for Annual Meijer Team Gives Program

​The Midland Meijer, located on Eastman Ave. today announces its $10,000 donation to Home To Stay Housing Assistance Center, a local nonprofit that promotes self-sufficiency to Midland County residents in need of stable housing and support services.

​As a part of the Meijer Team Gives program, the Midland Meijer team members voted to choose this nonprofit due to its meaningful connection to the community and the team. The funds will support Home To Stay’s Homeless Prevention program.

“Meijer Team Gives supports efforts to help improve the quality of life for communities,” said Joe Coffey, Executive Director at Home To Stay. “Community partners, like Meijer Team Give, allow Home To Stay to continue our work toward safe, stable, and affordable housing and for all. We are truly grateful,” Coffey added.

Home To Stay Housing Assistance Center promotes self-sufficiency to Midland County residents in need of stable housing and support services. Home To Stay opened its doors to safe, affordable housing in 1969 when 10 local churches formed the organization to improve housing conditions of low-income residents. A team of dedicated volunteers, board of directors and staff have a collective vision of a community with safe, stable housing for all. Home To Stay is designated by the State of Michigan as the Housing Assessment and Resource Agency (HARA) for Midland County, making the agency a recognized central point of intake for high-need individuals and families facing eviction or homelessness.

Home To Stay works towards its mission through the implementation of key programs like the Homeless Prevention program, which includes case management, rental assistance, advocacy, housing resource information and referrals. Another critical support program is our Home Repair Program, which aims to enhance the safety and accessibility of homes by helping to fund health- and safety-related repairs for seniors and income-eligible Midland County residents. These repairs can include accessibility and bathroom modifications, windows repairs, furnace and hot water heater repairs, minor plumbing or electrical repairs, and roofing repairs. Home To Stay is different than other organizations.

Started in 2021, Meijer Team Gives allows every Meijer supercenter, market format, grocery format, distribution center, manufacturing, logistics and Team Member Resource Group (TMRG) the opportunity to give $10,000 to a nonprofit of their choosing. The gift can be given in full to one organization or split in two, with $5,000 to each.

​The Meijer Team Gives fall 2023 program totaled $3 million in donations, spanning across the retailer’s six-state footprint.
