Midland Area Homes, Inc. d.b.a Home To Stay Housing Assistance Center has been awarded a grant in the amount of $45,000 from the Midland Area Community Foundation. The award was given to support Home To Stay’s Community Engagement program under the Midland Area Community Foundation’s focus area of Caring for our people: Human services, social services, poverty, housing, mental and physical health, and public safety. Home To Stay Housing Assistance Center promotes self-sufficiency to Midland County residents in need of stable housing and support services. Home To Stay opened its doors to safe, affordable housing in 1969 when 10 local churches formed the organization to improve housing conditions of low-income residents. Home To Stay is designated by the State of Michigan as the Housing Assessment and Resource Agency (HARA) for Midland County, making the agency a recognized central point of intake for high-need individuals and families facing eviction or homelessness.
Home To Stay works towards its mission through the implementation of key programs like the Community Engagement program, which aims to create greater avenues of access for those in need of services; to increase equitable ways for those being served and the community at large to engage with Home To Stay and to increase awareness around housing issues in Midland County. Another key program at Home To Stay is the Homeless Prevention program, which includes case management, rental assistance, advocacy, housing resource information and referrals for clients. “The Midland Area Community Foundation exists to cultivate the power of giving within our community, support long-term transformation, and help ensure all residents thrive.,” said Alysia Christy, Director of Community Impact at the Midland Area Community Foundation. Joe Coffey, Executive Director at Home To Stay, added. “The work and goals of Community Engagement support our mission of promoting self-sufficiency to Midland County residents in need of stable housing and support services. We are thrilled to be in community partnership with the Midland Area Community Foundation.” Comments are closed.
