We invite you to meet some of our community residents. Julie is a teacher suffering from chronic health issues who got behind on her rent. Mary’s furnace stopped working Christmas week, leaving her family living in a frigid house since she was unable to afford repairs. Ray experienced a series of problems that led to the loss of his home and car. These are just three examples of people in our community who have benefitted from the services and programs offered by Home to Stay Housing Assistance Center.
Home to Stay promotes self-sufficiency for Midland County residents in need of safe, stable housing and support services. Last year, we helped more than 600 people stay in their homes or find suitable housing and completed 46 home repair projects while referring more than 2,000 individuals to agencies that provide companion services. We are a United Way agency and the central point of intake for high-need individuals and families facing eviction and homelessness, as appointed by the state.
At any given time, more than 25 percent of households in Midland County are struggling to make ends meet. This is where Home to Stay comes in. We help people find housing if they lose their homes, and as importantly we provide funding, home repair and other services to help keep them safe at home before eviction hits.
Our annual fundraiser, themed “Welcome Home” to remind us of the warmth and comforts of home we all enjoy, will be Wednesday, May 22, 2024, from 11:30 a.m.-1:00 p.m. at the Midland Country Club. Honorary Chairs Nancy and Brian Money will be our special guests this year.
Please help us make “WELCOME HOME” a phrase that every Midland County resident can hear.
