Thank you for thinking of Home To Stay for your furniture donation!
Furniture needs can arise at anytime. Things like house fires, evictions, or a fixed income can all be factors. With this program, we accept new and gently used furniture from the community. We are then able to provide these items at no charge to those in the community who are in need. Individuals and families working with a Home To Stay caseworker will have priority for receiving items from our Furniture Assistance Program.
As our storage space is very limited, and as the majority of the people we serve have limited living space and resources, we have a very specific list of items that we can accept, and all donations must be pre-approved by the Furniture Coordinator by calling 989-496-9550 or emailing cstewart@myhometostay.org.

Receiving Furniture
- Individuals will be referred to the Furniture Assistance Program by their Home To Stay caseworker.
- Anyone needing furniture and/or appliances who is not involved in a Home To Stay program or service will be referred to an appropriate entity who may be able to assist them.
- Furniture items will be issued to individuals at no charge; appliances will be issued at no charge via a voucher system.
- Home To Stay will contact individuals by phone when their requested items are available. If requested, these items may be put on courtesy “hold” for three (3) days only, unless other arrangements are made with the Furniture Coordinator.
- Home To Stay has limited space, is not a storage facility and cannot keep furniture on “hold” indefinitely. Items that are not picked up by the deadline will be taken off “hold” status and will become available for other Home To Stay clients in need.
- Unfortunately Home To Stay does not have delivery services available and Home To Stay employees are not able to assist with the moving or loading of items. Individuals must pick up and transport their items themselves and must ensure they have someone along who can help them if necessary. Bring any blankets, plastic, rope or other moving implements you may need; Home To Stay does not provide these items.

In the midst of eviction, Justin* reached out to Home To Stay. Through the Housing Assistance Program Justin was able to move from living in a tent in the woods to having his own apartment. He said donations through the Furniture Assistance Program made his place feel much more comfortable and like a home.
