Thank you for thinking of Home To Stay!
Furniture needs can arise at anytime. Things like house fires, evictions, or a fixed income can all be factors. With this program, we accept new and gently used furniture from the community. We are then able to provide these items at no charge to Midland County residents who are in need.
(Due to high demand and limited supply, a referral from a partner agency serving Midland County is required prior to receiving items from our Furniture Assistance Program.)
As our storage space is very limited, and as the majority of the people we serve have limited living space and resources, we have a very specific list of items and quota of items that we can accept, and all donations must be pre-approved by the Furniture Coordinator by calling 989-496-9550 or emailing [email protected].
There is no fee for pick-ups but financial donations to help pay for gas and vehicle maintenance are always accepted and appreciated! Click here to support our program.

Receiving Furniture
- Due to limited storage space, all items must be pre-approved by the Furniture Coordinator. Please call 989-496-9550. See list of acceptable items above.
- We are located at 205 S. Saginaw St. (near the Circle).
- Please advise us ahead of time when you expect to arrive with your approved items so staff can be available to receive them.
- A receipt will be provided upon request.
- Unfortunately, if you arrive with items that have not been pre-approved and are unusable, we will have to refuse them.
- Our team of volunteers pick up pre-approved donation items two Saturday mornings per month using the Home To Stay box truck.
- Pick-ups are available for City of Midland addresses and some Larkin Township addresses only; call for details.
- Pick-ups are pre-scheduled and all items must be pre-approved by the Furniture Coordinator.
- Clear, current photos of items for consideration must be provided before a pick-up can be approved. See list of acceptable items above.
- Only the pre-approved items will be picked up, and items must be easily accessible from the ground level or garage. PLEASE, NO STAIRCASES. Our volunteers have the right to refuse an item if it is not on the ground or garage level, if it does not appear on the list of accepted items to be picked up, or if the item is soiled, damaged, smelly, or otherwise unusable.
- Donors will receive a confirmation call 1-2 days prior to date of scheduled pick-up.
- A receipt letter will be issued approximately 1 week after your donation is received.

Receiving Furniture
- Due to high demand and limited supply, a referral from a partner agency in Midland County is required prior to receiving items from our Furniture Assistance Program.
- Furniture items will be issued to individuals at no charge; appliances will be issued at no charge via a voucher system.
- Home To Stay will contact individuals by phone when their requested items are available. If requested, these items may be put on courtesy “hold” for seven (7) days only, unless other arrangements are made with the Furniture Coordinator.
- Home To Stay has limited space, is not a storage facility and cannot keep furniture on “hold” indefinitely. Items that are not picked up by the deadline will be taken off “hold” status and will become available for other Home To Stay clients in need.
- Unfortunately Home To Stay does not have delivery services available and Home To Stay employees are not able to assist with the moving or loading of items. Individuals must pick up and transport their items themselves and must ensure they have someone along who can help them if necessary. Bring any blankets, plastic, rope or other moving implements you may need; Home To Stay does not provide these items.

In the midst of eviction, Justin* reached out to Home To Stay. Through the Housing Assistance Program Justin was able to move from living in a tent in the woods to having his own apartment. He said donations through the Furniture Assistance Program made his place feel much more comfortable and like a home.
